ABOUT THIS TRACK
If you were to travel through a large country, crossing many states and many borders, with no direction, no map and no idea of where you are - who's side would you be on if a civil war was to start between states? Ballad on the Run was written with this thought in mind.

LYRICS
I steady my hand, I hear a shot, I’m running across the land full steam ahead though I’m racked in guilt and in a year I’m bound to be dead.
I bid farewell, to an old rusty sign that looked about the way I felt, I said my tomorrow is gonna come. With just a book in hand, I made my way across the land stealing a meal from time to time
I travelled the summer breeze and ate from the apple trees, working as a picker for a while, I made a river bank my home. Careening into my world was a young girl, she talked about a wishing well. I left that river for the road.
I moved on through the wintertime crossing so many borderlines, I didn’t know where I belonged, I rested in a town with no name. Whenever evening came, I thought about that wishing well and with morning’s sweet song I made my way again.
I was out on the very road, minding my own load, was walkin’ forever at a time, when I saw a man shot - cold dead. I stayed well hidden, I stayed out of sight for I was just a stranger when this country began to fight
I turned my heels around and made for the higher ground for a view to see where I could run, no army at my side and with no gun. Deep in the woodland I saw a young man, just as afraid as me. Griped in arms, he sang a sad song - "life don’t pass me by."
I steady my hand, I hear a shot, I’m running across the land
Full steam ahead. though I’m racked in guilt
and in a year I’m bound to be...
