about

ABOUT THIS TRACK
My Dad was a radio announcer throughout my childhood, many a night I walked the hallways of the radio station and fell asleep in the radio booths. So I have a kind of romanticised view of radio not only from the perspective of the listener but also from behind the desk too. As child, on hot summer nights, I'd sit on the top bunk bed with my radio beside me and my feet dangling out the window catching the cool night air and the cool new songs being played too.

lyrics

LYRICS
On my way home, travellin’ down my street
There’s a cool breeze blowing above the heat
The lights are out
But my mind’s switched on
My radio is playing all night long

I keep my sidewalks free of sheep
I disappear as the city sleeps
I tune in and I let go
To midnight radio

On my way I meet a businessman
He’s too preoccupied with shaking my right hand
He’s asleep but his mind works on
My radio is playing all night long

I keep my sidewalks free of sheep
I disappear as the city sleeps
I tune in and I let go
To midnight radio

I find a place in a neighbour’s tree
A branch to hold a radio and me
I tune in and I let go

To midnight radio
I tune in and I let go...
To midnight radio
To midnight radio
