Nothing Stops the Rain

from Human Veins by Alex Hallahan with The Woodland Hunters

about

ABOUT THIS TRACK
This song was written from the perspective of someone watching on as a person they love lives with pain. My partner suffers from Chronic Pain and so there are moments in this song that are certainly close to me, but it is a fictional story on the whole. You could interpret the meaning of pain in this song to be either physical or emotional, it works either way.

This track was recorded live in studio, the musicians in the room had only heard the track three times before the tape was rolled. This take was the third take.

lyrics

LYRICS
“I feel a little lost today, never mind the blues or what it is you’re going through” she said to me in pain, falling in and out of sleep, “I’ll find in there a day that doesn’t hurt me."

"I think I need a change of space, on these city streets the pavement
stays the same and nothing stops the rain”

“I found a little luck today, I’ll spend it wise and make it last the wintertime.” She said turning away, lying on an empty dream, “My mind has seen the best and worst of me."

“I’ll loosen up around my hands, then my feet will dance and my eyes will see the light again and I’ll never lose my way”

“I think I’ve had enough in here, though the walls are bare, the windows
share the world with me” She said framing the day, Walking out on the street, “Though I’m still in pain, I’ve found a bit of myself again. I think I need a place to be, on these city streets my tears have washed away
but nothing stops the rain.”

Beating like a drum. “I am younger then I feel, but I’m a little lost.”
Signs that stay the same. “For what it’s worth time has changed,” and she said “I’m moving on.”
